Known for wild ponies roaming the sand, unpolluted skies and wide-open spaces, Maryland’s beach towns are a haven if you’re looking to spend your summer vacation outdoors surrounded by the ocean.
Now that summer is finally upon us and we are getting out more and more, Worcester County wanted to offer some fun outdoor activities throughout the season! These are not just for locals, we invite our visitors to please participate and experience some new and exciting activities.
July and August are great months for birding in Worcester County! Our coastal bays are teeming with nesting terns, skimmers, egrets, herons and pelicans, and shorebirds begin migrating south in mid-summer. The Bald Cypress swamps around Snow Hill and Pocomoke are home to dozens of species of breeding warblers, vireos, tanagers and flycatchers which can be discovered paddling or boating on the cool, dark waters of the Pocomoke River.
